The Area Health Education Center of the Mid Rio Grande Border Area, whose mission includes improving access to health care and health education, in collaboration with the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center are creating opportunities for communities in South Texas to become informed about cervical cancer including screening, prevention and health services available. This initiative brings about a series of free virtual presentations throughout the month of January in observance of cervical cancer awareness month. The goal of these presentations is to bring awareness to the community about the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer. The cancer experts leading this initiative will share screening methods available to help with early detection as a prevention of cervical cancer.
